LUNENBURG, NS, Oct. 7, 2011 /CNW/ - High Liner Foods Incorporated (TSX: HLF; HLF.A), a leading North American processor and marketer of superior quality seafood, announced today that it has been named as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for 2012.  Now entering its 13th year, the annual competition is organized by Mediacorp Canada Inc. to recognize Canada's best places to work. It aims to identify companies and organizations that lead their industries in attracting and retaining employees.

"With more than 75,000 employers across Canada considered and 12,500 of these companies invited to apply, we are honoured to be recognized for the first time in our history in this distinguished list as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for 2012," said Henry Demone, President and CEO of High Liner Foods Incorporated. "Our inclusion in this list comes only one year after winning two regional competitions, Atlantic Canada's Top Employers 2011 and Nova Scotia's Top Employers 2011. It is a significant milestone that demonstrates the continual commitment of High Liner Foods to employer best practices and progressive, forward-thinking programs."

Mediacorp editors evaluated each of the applicants on eight key areas: physical workplace; work and social atmosphere; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement. Mediacorp Canada Inc. is Canada's largest publisher of quality employment periodicals, specializing in publishing directories and guides that let job-hunters find great employers and interesting new job opportunities in their field.
